The Guadalupe Apartments, located at 1616 Hardesty Ave, Kansas City, MO, will feature 50 mixed-income, one- and two-bedroom units with an anticipated completion date of April 2025. The project aims to help bridge the affordable housing gap and tenants that meet the requirements will have access to GCI’s wraparound services, including emergency assistance & case management, adult education, workforce training, and youth educational programs, among other services.

Founded in 1919, Guadalupe Centers’ mission is to improve the lives of Latinos in the Kansas City region and GCI remains the longest continuously-operating organization serving Latinos in the United States, according to the National Register of Historic Places. Guadalupe Centers serves over 20,000 individuals annually. This new housing project will give the Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools (GCCS) the opportunity to recruit teachers to work in urban communities with the appeal that their housing will be on campus.

The Guadalupe Apartments are centrally located in Kansas City and are in close proximity to Interstate 70, a major arterial in the city. Further, the location provides excellent access to shopping and services that other communities in the region do not offer. Therefore, the area is able to attract potential residents from other parts of Kansas City.

Community Impact

Guadalupe Centers is a beacon of support for all facets of the vibrant Kansas City Latino community. With a comprehensive array of programs, they offer invaluable assistance to families through Early Childhood Education, Family Support, Youth Programs, and Charter Schools. Their impact would be impressive if we stopped here, but the Center has a finger on the pulse of every aspect and vitality of the community. In continuation, Guadalupe Centers extends vital assistance and engagement to seniors, fosters adult education, and provides essential Substance Use Treatment Programs. Their impact is palpable, having positively influenced over 20,000 individuals across 36 zip codes, alongside serving over 450,000 meals to those in need. The absence of these programs would undoubtedly be detrimentally felt throughout the community.
