Director of Film Finance & West Coast Tax Credit Investments
Marco Cordova is a recognized expert in the field of film tax credits and movie production incentives. As Monarch Private Capital’s Director of Film Finance and West Coast Tax Credit Investments, he is responsible for overall planning, investment strategy and acquisition of film, television and digital entertainment tax credits. In addition, he is responsible for expanding MPC’s federal and state tax credit placement and investment opportunities to Fortune 1000 companies and large corporate entities based on the West Coast. Cordova’s extensive tax expertise and deep knowledge of various tax credit programs has been instrumental in his success working with many top Fortune 1000 companies in various industries.
Prior to MPC, Cordova was vice president of EP Financial Solutions at Entertainment Partners, where he worked primarily with Fortune 500 companies, major studios, and Indie production companies to place over $700 million in film and non-film tax credits. Cordova was also instrumental in expanding EP’s service offerings in over a dozen states and in editing several international and domestic production incentives publications. Prior to Entertainment Partners, Cordova oversaw state and local taxes and film incentives for Sony Pictures Entertainment, where he also represented Sony in the film tax credit and state and local tax committees at the Motion Pictures Association of America. Cordova began his career in public accounting at Arthur Andersen and Deloitte Tax. Thereafter, Cordova managed the state and local tax function at Anthem Inc., one of the largest insurance companies in the U.S.
Cordova is an active California CPA. He holds a master’s degree in business taxation from the University of Southern California and graduated with honors from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelor of Science in accounting. He is actively involved with the Credits and Incentives Group for the Institute for Professionals in Taxation. He has authored several tax credit related articles speaks frequently on entertainment and tax credit panels and conferences throughout the U.S.
