Claflin School

Claflin School Apartments, located in Columbus, Georgia, was originally constructed in 1868 as a schoolhouse to educate the African American community following the Civil War. The campus became part of the Muscogee County Public School System, with expansions in 1921 and the 1940s. After the original structure was lost to fire in 1958, two early 20th-century buildings remained intact. Now repurposed, the site has been transformed into Claflin School Apartments—a 44-unit affordable family housing community. The two-story complex offers one-, two-, and three-bedroom units with spacious layouts, modern kitchens, and washer/dryer connections. With walkable access to retail, services, parks, and Columbus’s downtown attractions, Claflin School Apartments offers both historical significance and contemporary comfort.
