Flats on Howard

The Flats on Howard, located at 2211 Howard Street in Omaha, Nebraska, are situated within a distinctive residential area formerly composed of 19th-century mansions. The surrounding neighborhood was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 and includes a collection of architecturally significant apartment buildings and row homes, all within walking distance of Omaha’s Central Business District. Now repurposed, The Flats on Howard represent a historic neighborhood revitalization, transforming 12 historic buildings into a vibrant, modern apartment community featuring 155 market-rate units. The Flats on Howard, as the first project to utilize Nebraska’s State Historic Tax Credits, contribute significantly to preserving the architectural character of downtown Omaha while offering modern living opportunities in a neighborhood steeped in history.
