Mast General Store, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was originally constructed in 1928 as the flagship store for Brown-Rogers-Dixson (B-R-D), one of the region’s most significant hardware and mercantile companies. Designed by prominent local firm Northup & O’Brien, the building housed 70,000 square feet of retail and wholesale space and was considered one of the South’s largest commercial buildings of its time. It served as a hub for the city’s booming tobacco and manufacturing economy, offering everything from industrial supplies to household goods. Now repurposed, it serves as a retail destination, housing the Mast General Store, while maintaining its historic architectural features and commercial character.
