Klondike Building

Klondike Building, located in Columbia, South Carolina, was originally built in 1961. Designed by Lafaye, Fair & Lafaye, it exemplified mid-century modernism with its sleek white-brick exterior, green granite façade, and distinctive ribbon windows. After alterations obscured its original architectural integrity, a restoration has recently returned its defining mid-century features. Now repurposed as the 1813 Main apartment complex, it offers 28 modern residential units, a resident lounge, a fitness center, and Columbia’s first rooftop patio. Through the South Carolina Historic and Abandoned Building Tax Credits, Klondike Building supports the growth and well-being of the Columbia community, ensuring its legacy remains a vital part of the city’s future.
