Baxter Mill – The Thread

The Thread, located in Rock Hill, South Carolina, was originally built in 1946 as a textile mill and warehouse facility. The historic structure played a key role in the region’s manufacturing industry. Now repurposed, it serves as a mixed-use destination with office, retail, and restaurant space. The Thread offers a creative hub for the community to live, work, eat, and gather—bridging downtown Rock Hill with Winthrop University. The redevelopment preserves the site’s industrial legacy while transforming it into a modern centerpiece in Rock Hill’s Knowledge Park district.
